Crikey, 15 years olds behind the wheel of a car is a scary thought! I'm booking a driving test soon...wonder how many times it'll take for me to pass

You can get a driver's permit when you are 16 (or is it 15?, can't remember) here in the U.S. But that means you have to have a licensed driver with you at all times when you are behind the wheel. I don't really see how that helps, but that is why we are such a brilliant country.

You have to have a fully licensed driver with you when you're a learner (for 6 months) and when you get your restriced you can't take passengers or drive after 10pm unless you've got a fully licensed driver with you. After 18 months (or a year if you do a course) you can sit your full license. But you can't teach a learner unless you've had your full license for 2 years. It takes ages to get, but its probably because we start younger. I didn't get my learners until I was 16, but I've got my full now. Its a bit of a pain cos its takes so long to go through and its really expensive

Oh and PS: Learners is a piece of piss. Do a little study, go in, pay funds, do a scratchie test, make sure you dont get more than 3 questions wrong and bada bing you have your learners.

We don't have to do any test to get the provisional liscense, you can apply for it 3 months before you 17th birthday. Can't drive a car without a person who's over 21 (or something) and they have to have had a full liscense for at least three years...And the provisional liscence costs money...as does the insurance for a leaner driver!
I've only ever driven in a car with my instructor. My how that man annoys me. Wish I hadn't left doing this so late Really just want to get the full liscence out of the way. Then maybe get a car...It all costs so bloody much! Still once I've passed Road Trips here I come!
