EastEnders was the top-rated show (12.3m) and, combined with The Vicar of Dibley (11.8m), it helped BBC1 to an easily win against ITV1's Midsomer Murders (6.2m). Emmerdale (7.5m) and Coronation Street (11.2m) overcame BBC1's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (7.8m), although the movie did beat Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Celebrity Special (6.2m), and BBC1's The Big Impression (5.4m) did better than You've Been Framed (3.1m). BBC1 also won at 10.30pm when Absolutely Fabulous (6.6m) beat Parkinson (5.1m). Before They Were Famous attracted (4.2m) while Top of the Pops was watched by (3.4m). The other channels failed to match the big two. Five's best rating was for a CSI repeat (1.3m); BBC2 did poorly with Lesley Garrett: Music From the Movies (1.2m), Kiss Me Kate (630,000) and Arena's portrait of Dennis Potter (494,000); and Channel 4 struggled with The Pink Panther (1.4m) and the documentary Who Wrote the Bible? (900,000). Little Britain reruns, soap repeats, ITV2's farewell to Corie's Karen, The Simpsons and Sky Movies 1's premiere of Love Actually headed the multichannel ratings.

Good figures! Ab Fab also seems to have done quite well on the later slot.
